Driver Heart Attack Suspected Behind Bus Overturn
May 3, 2026: A tragic road accident took place in Kangra on Sunday when a private bus travelling from Chamba to Una overturned near Niazpur in the Nurpur area. Around 40 passengers were onboard, out of which nearly 26 sustained injuries. Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred suddenly, leaving passengers little time to react.
Preliminary reports suggest the driver may have suffered a sudden heart attack, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Local residents and authorities quickly reached the spot and launched rescue operations. The injured were taken to Civil Hospital in Nurpur, while three critically injured passengers were referred to Tanda Medical College for advanced treatment.
Police officials have begun an investigation into the incident, and authorities are ensuring proper medical care for the injured. The accident also caused brief disruption in traffic, while panic gripped passengers as some were trapped inside the overturned bus before being rescued. The incident raises fresh concerns over road safety and driver health.
