Gaya native Shubham Kumar topped JEE Advanced 2026 with 330 marks, attributing his success to disciplined preparation
June 1, 2026: Shubham Kumar from Gaya, Bihar, has secured All India Rank 1 in JEE Advanced 2026 by scoring 330 out of 360 marks. The 18-year-old student, who prepared in Kota for the last two years, said his success was driven by consistent hard work, guidance from teachers, and support from his family. Shubham avoided distractions by staying away from social media and using his phone only to communicate with his parents and teachers.
The topper revealed that he studied for eight to ten hours daily and relied on short meditation sessions to manage stress. Despite frequent negative headlines surrounding Kota, he chose to focus on his goal and the city’s academic environment. According to him, Kota’s experienced faculty, quality study material, and competitive atmosphere played a significant role in his achievement. He now plans to pursue Computer Science engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
Gurugram’s Kabeer Chillar secured the second rank with 329 marks, missing the top position by just one mark. Like Shubham, Kabeer also stayed away from social media and focused entirely on academics. Both students studied at Allen Career Institute, which has produced multiple JEE Advanced toppers over the years. Institute officials congratulated the students and highlighted the institute’s continued success in the prestigious engineering entrance examination.
