June 10, 2025: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially opened the online registration process for its July 2025 admission cycle for both online and distance learning (ODL) programmes. Prospective students can apply by visiting ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in for ODL courses and ignouiop.samarth.edu.in for online courses. The last date to apply is July 15, 2025.

New DEB ID Requirement Introduced
In a key update, IGNOU has made it mandatory for applicants to generate a Distance Education Bureau (DEB) ID, aligning with UGC guidelines to ensure proper registration of students in recognized higher education institutions.
Steps to Create DEB ID:
- Create an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) ID via abc.gov.in.
- Visit the DEB registration portal (link provided on IGNOU’s admission site).
- Enter required information such as email and mobile number.
- Submit the form to receive your unique DEB ID.
Students facing difficulties can reach out to the nearest IGNOU Regional or Study Centre, or use the official Admission Helpline for assistance.
Eligibility Criteria
- UG Courses: Must have passed Class 12 with minimum 50% marks.
- PG Courses: Bachelor’s degree in relevant stream with at least 50% marks.
- Diploma/Certificate Courses: Completion of 10+2 from a recognized board.
- Note: Admission is based on merit, except for PhD, BEd, and PBScN, which follow separate entrance procedures.
IGNOU 2025 Admission Fees
- Application Fee: ₹300 for both new registrations and re-registrations.
Online Programmes:
- BCA: ₹16,000 per year (₹8,000 per semester)
- BA, BCom, BSc: ₹2,083 per semester (₹8,332 annually approx.)
Distance (ODL) Programmes:
- UG Courses: ₹1,800 to ₹60,000 for the full programme
(₹3,800 – ₹12,600 annually depending on the course)
