Twenty-five opposition parties attended the INDIA bloc meeting in New Delhi, where leaders agreed on a common strategy for Parliament

June 8, 2026: Leaders of 25 opposition parties gathered in New Delhi on Monday for a crucial INDIA bloc meeting aimed at strengthening coordination within the alliance. The meeting took place amid growing differences among some alliance partners and recent electoral setbacks faced by key constituents. However, the DMK and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) skipped the gathering, with the DMK citing Congress’s post-election alliance with TVK in Tamil Nadu.

After the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announced that the alliance had agreed on five major decisions. The INDIA bloc will write to the Chief Justice of India regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleging electoral irregularities and “vote theft.” The opposition also unanimously demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister over alleged lapses in NEET and CBSE examinations. In addition, alliance partners called for stronger coordination on issues affecting youth, democracy, and institutional accountability.

Kharge said the opposition alliance would now hold coordination meetings every two months, with the next meeting scheduled in Hyderabad on August 8. The bloc also plans to strengthen cooperation during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament through regular strategy meetings. Despite differences among some parties, opposition leaders stressed the importance of unity and collective action, with the Congress sharing photographs from the meeting under the slogan “United We Stand.”
