External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has arrived in Mongolia for high-level meetings aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation
June 22, 2026: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Mongolia on Monday as part of his official visit to Mongolia and the Republic of Korea from June 22 to 25. He was welcomed by Mongolia’s State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Munktushig Ilkhanajav. Sharing his arrival update on X, Jaishankar said he looked forward to productive engagements aimed at advancing the special partnership between India and Mongolia.
During his visit to Mongolia, Jaishankar is scheduled to meet the country’s leadership and hold discussions with Mongolian Foreign Minister B. Battsetseg. The talks are expected to focus on reviewing ongoing cooperation and exploring new opportunities across political, economic, cultural and strategic sectors. The visit highlights the importance both nations place on strengthening their long-standing relationship.
India and Mongolia share close ties rooted in cultural, spiritual and democratic values. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1955 and have steadily expanded over the decades. The visit follows Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa’s visit to India in October 2025, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and enhancing their special partnership.
