Multi-agency drill to test coordination, response, and public awareness
April 24, 2026: A blackout and mock drill will be conducted in Jodhpur on April 25, 2026, to assess disaster management preparedness and emergency response systems. The exercise, carried out under the directions of the Government of India and guided by District Collector Alok Ranjan, will simulate an air raid warning and district-wide blackout scenario.
The drill will involve coordinated participation from multiple agencies, including civil defence, police, fire services, medical teams, and public works and electricity departments. Officials aim to evaluate readiness, inter-department coordination, and the effectiveness of response mechanisms during crisis situations. A preparatory meeting held at the Marwar International Center reviewed key strategies, with participation from administrative officials as well as representatives from the Indian Air Force and Army.
Discussions focused on Standard Operating Procedures, strengthening siren systems, and improving communication channels for faster and more accurate information dissemination. Authorities have also issued a public advisory urging residents to remain calm, avoid rumours, and follow official instructions to ensure the smooth conduct of the drill across Rajasthan.
