The Indian Army detained a 25-year-old resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after he allegedly crossed the Line of Control into Jammu
May 31, 2026: A resident of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was apprehended by the Indian Army after allegedly crossing the Line of Control (LoC) into the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday. Officials identified the individual as Zeeshan Ahmad Mir, a 25-year-old resident of Painkadi village in Muzaffarabad district of PoK.
According to officials, personnel of the 12 Grenadiers unit detained Mir at around 9:30 am in the Silikote border area after he allegedly entered Indian territory. Security forces immediately took him into custody and launched preliminary questioning to determine the circumstances behind the border crossing.
Initial investigations suggest that Mir crossed the LoC to meet a woman identified as Iram Bano, a resident of Tileai village in Uri. Officials said the incident appears to be linked to a personal relationship between the two. Both individuals are currently being questioned by security agencies, which are also examining whether any other factors were involved in the crossing. Further investigation is underway.
