US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Taj Mahal with his wife Jeanette during his India tour before heading to Jaipur

May 25, 2026: Marco Rubio visited the iconic Taj Mahal on Monday along with his wife Jeanette Rubio during the third day of his India visit. The couple arrived in Agra in the morning and spent time touring the UNESCO World Heritage monument. Sergio Gor also accompanied Rubio during the visit. The US delegation later departed for Rajasthan as part of Rubio’s ongoing four-day India tour.

Following the Agra visit, Rubio is scheduled to travel to Jaipur, where he is expected to stay at the historic Rambagh Palace. He is also likely to visit Amer Fort and other tourist attractions in the city. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari is expected to receive Rubio on behalf of the state government. Rubio will later return to New Delhi for the upcoming Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

The Quad meeting, chaired by S. Jaishankar, will bring together representatives from India, the United States, Australia and Japan to discuss Indo-Pacific developments and regional security issues. During his India visit, Rubio also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, besides visiting the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata. The Taj Mahal has long remained a major attraction for world leaders, including Donald Trump and JD Vance during their India visits.
