Opposition MPs continued their protest over the paper leak controversy as the government reiterated
July 24, 2026: The fifth day of the Monsoon Session witnessed fresh disruptions as Opposition MPs continued their protest over the alleged paper leak controversy, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Before Parliament convened, Opposition leaders staged demonstrations and raised slogans inside the Parliament complex, keeping up pressure on the government over student-related issues and examination reforms.
The Lok Sabha began the day by paying tribute to the armed forces ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas, with members honouring soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for the nation. The Speaker appealed to MPs to allow Question Hour to proceed, stressing that Parliament should function as a platform for debate, accountability and meaningful discussion. However, Opposition protests intensified soon after proceedings began, forcing the House to adjourn until 12 noon.
The government has reiterated that it is ready to hold a discussion on paper leaks and examination reforms under parliamentary rules. Meanwhile, attention remains on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed anti-paper leak law, which is expected to receive Cabinet approval before being introduced in Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
