Party revamp focuses on balancing senior leaders with fresh faces as Lokesh takes over as working president to strengthen organisation

April 29, 2026: The Telugu Desam Party has announced its new executive committees, combining experienced leaders with fresh talent. Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu administered the oath to members of the Politburo, national, and state committees during a ceremony in Amaravati. In a key development, Nara Lokesh was appointed as the party’s working president, with leadership highlighting his role in strengthening the organisation at all levels.

Naidu said the new structure reflects a mix of senior leadership and grassroots workers, with several mandal and cluster-level leaders elevated to key positions. The move underscores the party’s “cadre is the leader” philosophy, while also recognising contributions from social media activists and younger members. According to Naidu, the committees were finalised after multiple rounds of consultation to ensure a balance between experience and new energy, presenting a refreshed outlook for the party even after more than four decades.

Highlighting governance priorities, Naidu said his government is pushing welfare schemes, infrastructure growth, and irrigation projects, including Polavaram and Amaravati development. He also claimed improvements in the power sector, reduction in tariffs, and revival of key assets like the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Emphasising connectivity, he added that ports, airports, and highways are being strengthened to boost economic growth across Andhra Pradesh.
