The BJP MP claimed some students were using the NEET paper leak as an excuse for poor performance
July 23, 2026: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Thursday sparked controversy by claiming that some students were using the alleged NEET paper leak as an excuse to justify poor academic performance. Speaking during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Dubey said many parents believe their children are capable of securing admission to top institutions, but some students blame paper leaks instead of competition. He added that anyone aspiring to become a doctor, engineer, IAS or IPS officer must succeed through education.
Referring to the NEET paper leak case, Dubey said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed the strictest possible action against those responsible. He noted that 13 accused had already been arrested and said the government had decided to establish fast-track courts to ensure swift punishment in paper leak cases. In a post on X, Modi said the Centre remained committed to protecting students’ interests and warned that those attempting to destroy the future of young people would not be spared.
Meanwhile, the Centre reiterated its readiness to hold talks with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the ongoing protest. Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh said the government was open to dialogue. However, CJP representatives insisted they would not meet government leaders at their residences, instead urging them to hold discussions at Jantar Mantar or another neutral venue.
