The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released critical clarifications regarding the upcoming NEET UG 2026 re-examination. This fresh update brings vital information for students who are waiting for their application fee refunds. Furthermore, it details the new examination arrangements following the cancellation of the previous test.
To help students, the NTA will launch a dedicated portal module very soon. Consequently, candidates can easily submit their bank account details to receive their money back. Along with this, the official notice clears up multiple doubts about language options, center locations, and test timings.
Direct Link for Bank Account Updates Coming Soon
According to the official announcement, the NTA will activate the bank account submission feature by May 21, 2026. Therefore, students should keep their banking paperwork ready. Right now, the web portal allows applicants to change their present address and pick their preferred exam cities.
However, the refund process requires a separate step. This upcoming module will open shortly on the official website. Once it goes live, candidates can safely enter their data to get their registration costs back.
Category-Wise Refund Amount Breakdown
Naturally, many students want to know exactly how much money they will receive. The final amount depends entirely on the category you selected during your initial registration.
| Candidate Category | Fee for Indian Centers | Fee for Outside India |
| General | ₹1700 | ₹9500 |
| General-EWS / OBC-NCL | ₹1600 | Processing fees vary |
| SC / ST / PwBD / Third Gender | ₹1000 | Processing fees vary |
Initially, candidates also paid extra processing charges and GST during their form submission. Fortunately, the NTA announced that students do not have to pay anything extra for the upcoming RE-NEET 2026 test. The agency is hosting the re-exam completely free of cost for all affected students.
Strict Rules on Exam Medium and City Availability
Can you change your exam language at this stage? Unfortunately, the NTA has clearly stated that you cannot change your exam medium now. Thus, you must take the test in the exact same language you chose during your original application.
Because of this rule, some students might see an “unavailable” message when picking a test city. This happens because certain regional languages are only available in specific states. Since your language is locked, your city choices automatically adapt to where that specific language exam can physically take place.
New Exam Center Allotment Logic
Many applicants wonder if they will return to their old test centers. However, the NTA has given absolutely no guarantee about matching your previous venue. Instead, the computer systems distribute students using a fully automated, random allotment process.
This system looks closely at your newly selected city preferences and the current availability of desks. As a result, your RE-NEET 2026 location will likely be entirely different from your May 3 center.
Extended Exam Timing and Extra Minutes Explained
The official re-exam date is officially set for June 21, 2026, which falls on a Sunday. Students need to plan their schedules around the official timeline.
- Main Exam Timings: 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM
- Total Duration: 3 Hours and 15 Minutes
Importantly, the agency added an extra 15 minutes to the schedule. This time is strictly meant to handle increased security procedures. Specifically, invigilators will use this window for document verification, biometric fingerprint scanning, signature formalities, and routine security checks.
How to Report Previous Examination Grievances
Some candidates faced severe discomfort or administrative issues during the initial exam on May 3, 2026. If you experienced these problems, you can report them directly to the authorities.
To file a formal complaint, you must email your grievances to neetug2026@nta.ac.in. Make sure to attach clear supporting proof or official documents to your email so the agency can review your case quickly.
