April 14, 2026: Just hours after stepping down as Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar reflected on nearly two decades of governance in Bihar, emphasising his administration’s focus on development, inclusivity and law and order. He noted that since the NDA government took office in 2005, the state has seen steady improvements across sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, electricity and agriculture. He also highlighted targeted efforts to uplift minorities, backward classes, Dalits and economically weaker sections.
Kumar underlined the importance of empowering women and youth, stating that these initiatives contributed significantly to Bihar’s social and economic progress. Looking ahead, he referred to the “7 Nishchay-3” roadmap for 2025–2030, expressing confidence that it would further accelerate development. He added that continued support from the Centre under Narendra Modi would play a key role in sustaining growth.
Confirming his resignation, Kumar said he had formally submitted his decision to the Governor after the Cabinet meeting and thanked the people of Bihar for their long-standing support. He assured that he would extend full cooperation and guidance to the incoming government, expressing optimism that the state would continue to progress and strengthen its position among India’s leading states.
