Police officials said adequate train services had been arranged for examination candidates
June 14, 2026: Senior police officials have revealed fresh details about the railway station unrest, stating that special train arrangements were already in place for examination candidates before the protest erupted. Inspector General (IG) Amaresh Kumar said trains heading towards destinations such as Araria, Darbhanga and Madhubani had arrived at the station and students were boarding normally. Authorities maintained that transportation facilities were sufficient for candidates to reach their examination centres on time.
According to police, the situation changed around 11:45 a.m. when nearly 300 to 400 people gathered at the station. Officials alleged that the group’s intention was not to board the trains but to disrupt railway operations. Protesters reportedly moved onto the railway tracks and blocked services while demanding the operation of an additional special train. Railway and police officials held discussions with the demonstrators and explained that existing train services were capable of transporting candidates within the required schedule.
Police further stated that senior authorities, including the Director General of Police, had instructed officials to reassure students regarding examination-related concerns. Candidates were informed that alternative arrangements or administrative support could be explored if any examination was missed due to travel difficulties. Despite these assurances, tensions escalated, leading to rail service disruptions and damage to station property. Authorities are now expected to conduct an inquiry into the incident and assess its overall impact on railway operations and public safety.
