Leaders across parties pay homage to victims of Pahalgam terror attack, vow firm response to terrorism

April 22, 2026: On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed that India will never bow to terrorism. Remembering the 26 lives lost in the 2025 attack in Pahalgam, he said the nation stands united in grief and resolve. The attack, carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba, had targeted tourists and triggered nationwide outrage.

Marking the occasion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said India’s response to cross-border terror is now “firm, decisive and unwavering.” President Droupadi Murmu expressed condolences, while Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tributes, stressing unity against terror and remembering the victims’ sacrifice.

Following the attack, India had launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reiterated the region’s commitment to peace and resolving to prevent such tragedies in the future, as the nation once again stood united against terrorism.
