Narendra Modi received a vibrant welcome from the Indian diaspora in Oslo during his Europe tour.
May 18, 2026: Narendra Modi arrived in Oslo as part of his ongoing European diplomatic tour and was welcomed by members of the Indian community with traditional music and dance performances. Visuals from Oslo showed enthusiastic crowds greeting the Prime Minister with patriotic chants, flowers and cultural celebrations.
Children dressed in traditional Indian attire performed classical dances and welcomed Modi during the reception ceremony. The Prime Minister interacted warmly with members of the diaspora, greeting children and acknowledging performers. The visit is considered historically significant as it marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in more than four decades.
Before arriving in Norway, Modi visited Sweden, where he held high-level diplomatic meetings focused on strategic cooperation, trade, technology and climate partnerships. His Norway visit is also expected to include bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening ties between India and Nordic nations across economic, cultural and technological sectors.
