Senior BJP leaders are set to meet at the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi to discuss candidate selection

May 31, 2026: A high-level meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership is scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi on Friday evening. The meeting, chaired by Narendra Modi, is expected to be attended by senior leaders including Amit Shah, J. P. Nadda, and Rajnath Singh, along with other key party functionaries.

The primary focus of the meeting will be to finalise candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. A total of 24 Rajya Sabha seats across ten states are scheduled to go to polls on June 18. The states include Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Mizoram.

Apart from the Rajya Sabha elections, party leaders are also expected to discuss upcoming Legislative Council elections in Bihar and Maharashtra. Sources indicate that factors such as caste representation, regional balance and broader political strategy will be considered before finalising candidates for the crucial contests.
