Bhagwant Mann unveils 4-year report card, targets Centre

March 21, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday presented the state’s four-year health report card under the outreach campaign ‘Shandaar Chaar Saal Bhagwant Mann De Naal’, highlighting a shift from promises to delivery. At the centre of his announcement was the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which offers cashless treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per family. Calling it a first-of-its-kind initiative, Mann said the scheme ensures universal healthcare access, especially for economically weaker sections, with around 900 hospitals across Punjab and Chandigarh already empanelled.

Taking aim at critics, Mann flagged misinformation campaigns against the scheme and compared it with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat, claiming Punjab’s model provides higher per capita spending with fewer restrictions. He noted that over 25 lakh people have registered under the scheme, with more than 1.6 lakh already receiving treatment across 2,300+ medical procedures, covering specialties from cardiology to oncology.

Highlighting broader reforms, Mann said 883 Aam Aadmi Clinics are operational, with more in the pipeline, offering free medicines and diagnostics. The state has also ramped up medical recruitment, infrastructure, and AI-driven healthcare initiatives, including cancer screening and emergency care projects. With new medical colleges and critical care blocks underway, the government aims to position Punjab as a leading healthcare hub in the country.
