Senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Salman Khurshid met European Union heads of mission in Delhi to discuss India-EU relations
May 14, 2026: Rahul Gandhi and Salman Khurshid held a luncheon meeting with European Union heads of mission as part of the EU’s ongoing engagement with Indian political parties. According to Herve Delphin, the discussions focused on the “thriving EU-India strategic partnership” and evolving geopolitical developments in India and across the world.
Delphin shared details of the meeting on X, stating that the interaction covered a wide range of strategic and diplomatic issues. The meeting comes at a time when ties between European Union and India have gained fresh momentum through increased diplomatic engagement and economic cooperation.
The India-EU relationship has strengthened in recent months, especially after Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa attended India’s 77th Republic Day celebrations as chief guests. India and the 27-nation bloc also concluded negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement on January 27, which has been described as the “mother of all deals.” Earlier this month, Delphin had described the India-EU partnership as “limitless, ambitious and progressive.”
