Rahul Gandhi accuses Nitish Kumar of being controlled by BJP during rally in Tamil Nadu
April 20, 2026: Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a sharp attack on former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, calling him “compromised” and alleging that his past actions allowed the BJP to exert complete control over him. Speaking at a poll rally in Thoothukudi, Gandhi claimed that Nitish’s recent political shift and silence after moving to the Rajya Sabha reflected this alleged influence.
Referring to developments in Bihar, Gandhi said the BJP was able to replace the chief minister because of this “compromise,” suggesting that Nitish Kumar did not resist or speak out after stepping down. Without directly naming him at first, Gandhi pointed to the leadership change as an example of how the BJP operates when it gains leverage over regional leaders.
Drawing parallels with Tamil Nadu politics, Gandhi warned that the BJP aims to form governments it can fully control, including installing leaders who follow its directives without resistance. He asserted that such a scenario would not be allowed in Tamil Nadu, signaling a broader political battle as elections approach.
