Rahul Gandhi will visit Raebareli and Amethi for public meetings and organisational review ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
May 18, 2026: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Raebareli on May 19 for a two-day visit. Congress district president Pankaj Tiwari said Gandhi will inaugurate a marriage hall in Bachhrawan, address a public gathering in Khiron and participate in a ‘mahila samvaad’ programme in Lalganj on the first day of his visit.
On May 20, Gandhi is scheduled to attend a ‘Janata Darshan’ programme at Bhuyemau Guest House and unveil a statue of Veera Pasi before addressing another public meeting in Lodhwari. He will later travel to Amethi, where he is expected to meet party leaders, workers and senior Congress functionaries at the district headquarters.
According to political observers, the visit is part of the Congress party’s preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Discussions are likely to focus on strengthening the organisation at the booth level and increasing participation of youth and women workers. Gandhi will also visit the native village of late Congress leader Yogendra Mishra to meet his family members. Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma has been reviewing arrangements ahead of the visit.
