Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and BJP leaders have questioned Rahul Gandhi over the funding of his alleged foreign trips

May 14, 2026: Rekha Gupta on Thursday targeted Rahul Gandhi over his alleged “mysterious foreign trips” and asked him to clarify the source of funding behind the overseas visits. The remarks came after the official X handle of the Bharatiya Janata Party shared a post alleging that nearly ₹60 crore had been spent on 54 foreign trips undertaken by Rahul Gandhi between 2004 and 2026.

According to the BJP’s claims, Rahul Gandhi’s declared income over the years was around ₹11 crore, which the party said was significantly lower than the estimated expenditure on the trips. Gupta questioned whether the tours were funded privately or by foreign entities and argued that any foreign funding could attract provisions under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). She also accused the Congress leader of lacking transparency regarding the alleged expenses.

Senior BJP leader Sambit Patra also raised similar allegations during a press conference, claiming Rahul Gandhi frequently travelled abroad with accompanying staff and that the total expenditure on the visits amounted to nearly ₹60 crore. The BJP’s criticism comes amid Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks against Narendra Modi over the Prime Minister’s public appeals urging citizens to adopt fuel-saving and cost-control measures in view of global economic disruptions linked to the West Asia conflict.
