Chief Minister asks party leaders to intensify awareness efforts and ensure that no genuine voter loses voting rights during the SIR process.
June 24, 2026: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday warned party leaders of strict action if they failed to follow instructions related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign. Addressing ministers, MPs, MLAs and constituency in-charges through a Zoom meeting, the Chief Minister described the issue as extremely serious and expressed concern over reports of negligence by some leaders. He said he had already reviewed district-wise reports on SIR awareness programmes and would not remain silent if the party suffered due to inaction.
Reddy instructed leaders to organise more awareness meetings and remain vigilant during the voter revision exercise. He stressed the importance of protecting genuine voters, particularly the poor, amid concerns that valid names could be removed from electoral rolls. According to the Chief Minister, losing voting rights could also affect access to essential documents and welfare benefits, making the issue particularly important for vulnerable sections of society.
The Chief Minister further warned that constituency in-charges could be replaced if they failed to carry out responsibilities such as monitoring voter verification, coordinating with Election Commission officials and ensuring submission of required documents to restore voter rights. He said the performance of party in-charges would be closely monitored over the next 10 days and appealed to village sarpanches to actively create awareness among citizens regarding the SIR process.
