Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh avoided clarifying her position amid the party’s deepening internal crisis

June 14, 2026: Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh on Sunday refused to clarify her stand amid the growing rebellion within the party, saying she would speak only when the “time is right.” Speaking to reporters after arriving in Delhi, Ghosh declined to respond to questions about her loyalty to the party or whether she was formally aligning with the rebel faction. “I will not say anything now. I will only speak when the time is right,” she said, adding that she would answer to the people of her constituency rather than political speculation.

Ghosh arrived in the national capital along with fellow TMC MP Mala Roy ahead of a planned meeting between rebel MPs and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The dissident group is expected to seek recognition as the “real Trinamool” parliamentary bloc. Reports also suggest that the rebel lawmakers may hold discussions with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during their stay in Delhi. Both Ghosh and Roy avoided detailed interactions with the media regarding the ongoing political developments.

The rebellion has intensified following reports that senior TMC leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay joined the dissident camp after meetings with Union Ministers Amit Shah and Bhupender Yadav. Rebel leaders claim they now have the support of 20 out of the party’s 28 Lok Sabha MPs. However, the Trinamool Congress has rejected these claims, arguing that the anti-defection law does not permit the formation of a separate parliamentary group within the party structure. The political battle is expected to escalate further in the coming days.
