Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre has denied assaulting a female doctor during an altercation at Shashtri Nagar Hospital
July 8, 2026: Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre on Wednesday issued a statement addressing allegations that he assaulted two doctors and nurses at Shashtri Nagar Hospital. Expressing regret over the physical altercation, Mhatre denied raising his hand against the female doctor and claimed that the CCTV footage may have appeared misleading due to the camera angle.
According to Mhatre, the confrontation occurred after the doctor allegedly failed to respond to his grievance and was engaged in a phone conversation. He maintained that while the incident escalated into a physical altercation, he did not assault the woman doctor as alleged.
The corporator said that the teachings of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray have always discouraged violence against women. He added that the incident was the result of shortcomings in the hospital’s functioning and assured that efforts would be made to address those issues. The matter has sparked controversy, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
