Uttar Pradesh government introduces new guidelines, enhanced security

July 15, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified preparations for the Kanwar Yatra, which is scheduled to begin on July 30. To ensure the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage, the administration has issued several guidelines focusing on security, transparency, and public convenience along the Kanwar routes.

According to the new measures, hotels and roadside eateries on the pilgrimage route will be required to display QR codes, while shopkeepers and food vendors must prominently display their names outside their establishments. The initiative is aimed at improving transparency and helping pilgrims easily identify service providers during the yatra.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to remain on high alert and ensure that Kanwariyas face no inconvenience during their journey. Authorities are also implementing comprehensive traffic management plans, installing CCTV cameras, strengthening sanitation facilities, and deploying senior officials for continuous monitoring. Sensitive districts, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Saharanpur, have been placed under enhanced security, while traditional arrangements such as flower showers for pilgrims are also being planned.
