A verbal confrontation broke out between police officials and Samajwadi Party leaders over crowd restrictions during Eid prayers in Jahangirabad.

May 28, 2026: A major controversy unfolded in Bulandshahr during Eid prayers after a heated argument broke out between police officials and leaders of the Samajwadi Party outside an Eidgah in Jahangirabad. The confrontation reportedly began when police personnel stopped worshippers from offering namaz outside the Eidgah premises, citing overcrowding and security concerns inside the prayer area.

Former MLA Chaudhary Hoshiyar Singh was seen arguing with the local Circle Officer as tensions escalated at the site. According to eyewitnesses, police officials insisted that the Eidgah had already reached full capacity and additional people could not be accommodated outside the designated area. Videos circulating on social media showed the officer repeatedly folding his hands and requesting the crowd to cooperate and disperse peacefully, but the exchange continued for several minutes.

Police maintained that the restrictions were imposed solely for crowd management and public safety during the large Eid gathering. Authorities said their priority was to prevent congestion and maintain law and order. Although the situation was later brought under control without any violence or injuries, the incident sparked political reactions, with opposition leaders questioning the administration’s handling of religious gatherings while police defended their actions as necessary precautions.
