June 16, 2026: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar on Tuesday described the newly formed TVK government as a “Vijay model government,” praising Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for his leadership style. Speaking at a two-day orientation programme for newly elected MLAs in Chennai, the Speaker said Vijay’s approach of embracing people across communities, castes and faiths was helping maintain peace and harmony in the state. He also commended the Chief Minister’s efforts to promote inclusive governance.
The workshop, organised by the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Secretariat ahead of the upcoming Assembly session on June 18, aims to familiarise legislators with parliamentary procedures, House rules and effective participation in debates. Chief Minister Vijay inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of senior ministers, legislators and Assembly officials. The programme is open to all members of the 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.
Addressing the participants, Prabhakar highlighted the importance of legislative conduct and encouraged first-time MLAs to study the contributions of legendary leaders such as C. N. Annadurai, K. Kamaraj and M. Karunanidhi. He also referred to significant events in Tamil Nadu’s political history, including developments involving M. G. Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa, urging legislators to learn from past debates and focus on public welfare.
