May 14, 2026: Vijay on Thursday announced a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and teachers in Tamil Nadu. According to an official release, the revised DA will come into effect from January 1, 2026.
With the latest revision, the Dearness Allowance for state government staff and teachers has been increased from 58 per cent to 60 per cent. The move is expected to benefit a large number of employees and pensioners across the state.
The announcement is being seen as one of the key welfare measures introduced by the Vijay-led government after taking office. The increase in DA is aimed at helping employees cope with rising living costs and inflation.
