The investigation into the shocking death of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal has taken a new turn, with police revealing details from the interrogation of the prime accused, Siya Goyal. According to investigators, the 20-year-old had repeatedly expressed her desire to call off her engagement with Agarwal but alleged that he continued to pursue the relationship despite her objections.
Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, have been accused of conspiring to murder the 25-year-old realtor. The incident took place during a trek at Lohagad Fort near Pune, where Ketan Agarwal allegedly fell to his death after being pushed off a cliff. Police claim the act was part of a premeditated plan hatched by the accused duo.
During custodial interrogation, Siya reportedly told Pune Rural Police that she was unhappy with the arranged marriage and had informed Ketan about her decision to end the relationship. She allegedly urged him not to proceed with the wedding plans, but according to her statement, Ketan remained committed to the relationship and continued preparations for the marriage.
Investigators had earlier suspected that Siya was unwilling to marry Ketan because of her alleged relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. Police sources claim that societal expectations and concerns about her family’s reputation may have influenced her actions. An officer associated with the investigation stated that Siya believed eloping with Chetan was not a viable option due to social pressures and family circumstances.
Meanwhile, Ketan Agarwal’s father, Vishal Agarwal, has shared details that he now believes were warning signs before the tragedy unfolded. He revealed that after the couple got engaged in February, Ketan and Siya frequently met and spent time together. However, Ketan occasionally expressed concerns about her behavior and questioned whether her background had been properly verified.
According to Vishal Agarwal, the couple often argued over seemingly minor issues. He also recalled that Siya spent a considerable amount of time on her phone, which had raised concerns within the family. Ketan had even mentioned Chetan Chaudhary’s name in conversations, leading him to suspect that there may have been a connection between the two.
The grieving father further revealed that the family had considered postponing the wedding because of Siya’s young age. However, he claimed that her parents encouraged them to proceed with the marriage, assuring them that they would not find a better match than Ketan.
