Police await post-mortem report as food samples, including watermelon, are tested in Mumbai’s Pydhonie tragedy.
April 27, 2026: A heartbreaking incident has surfaced from Pydhonie, where four members of the Dokadia family died following suspected food poisoning. The victims—Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Nasreen (35), and their daughters Aisha (16) and Zainab (13)—reportedly fell ill hours after consuming a late-night meal. According to Mumbai Police, the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after post-mortem findings.
Police said the family had dinner with relatives on April 25, after which they reportedly consumed watermelon between 1:00 am and 1:30 am. By early morning, all four developed severe symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea. They were first treated by a local doctor and later shifted to JJ Hospital, where they succumbed during treatment. Eyewitnesses described the situation as critical, with one neighbour stating that the younger daughter had no pulse despite CPR attempts.
Authorities have seized food samples, including the suspected watermelon, for forensic examination. An Accidental Death case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether contaminated food triggered the deaths. The tragic incident has left the locality in deep shock, with an entire family lost within hours.
