July 14, 2025: Weather Update – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a widespread alert forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several parts of the country between July 14 and July 19, warning residents to brace for potentially disruptive weather.

Rain Soaks Delhi-NCR, More Expected

Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed evening showers on Sunday, providing relief from intense humidity. The IMD issued a red alert for Delhi, forecasting moderate rain and thunderstorms through Monday, with temperatures expected to range between 26°C and 33°C. A cloud mass from the southeast is expected to further influence rainfall in the region.

Northwest India

  • East & West Rajasthan: Extremely heavy rain likely on July 14–15.
  • Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh: Isolated heavy showers on July 14.
  • Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh: Scattered rainfall till July 17.
  • Uttarakhand: Heavy rainfall daily till July 19.
  • Punjab: Likely to receive showers on July 16.
  • Uttar Pradesh: Western UP may see rain on July 14, 17, 18; East UP to get heavier rain from July 15 to 18, especially on July 16.

East & Central India

  • Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh: Persistent rainfall from July 13–19.
  • Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Vidarbha: Heavy rain with thunderstorms till mid-week.
  • Andaman & Nicobar Islands: Rain likely July 14–16.

West India

  • Gujarat Region, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra (Ghats): Heavy rainfall forecast July 13–16.
  • Saurashtra & Kutch: Isolated heavy showers on July 13–14.

🌧️ Kolkata & South Bengal on Alert

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Alipore has issued a yellow alert for Kolkata and South Bengal on Monday, warning of isolated heavy rain due to an active monsoon trough and a developing low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.

🌧️ Northeast India

Rain will continue across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh through the week. Very heavy rain is likely in Meghalaya on July 15.

🌧️ South India

  • Kerala & Mahe, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka: Heavy rain from July 13–19.
  • Tamil Nadu: Heavy showers from July 15–19.
  • Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema: Rain expected July 18–19.
  • Winds of 40–50 km/h are forecast across coastal regions, with thunderstorms and lightning over the next five days.
