First-time MLA N Marie Wilson, associated with the Jeppiaar educational group, has been entrusted with the Finance
May 21, 2026: Weeks after securing a major victory from the RK Nagar Assembly constituency, N Marie Wilson has emerged as one of the prominent faces in the expanded Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Thursday allocated Wilson the important Finance, Planning and Development portfolio during the first major cabinet expansion of the new administration. Wilson, a first-time MLA and member of the influential Jeppiaar educational group, entered active politics less than a year ago.
Born in Chennai around 1979, Wilson comes from the well-known Jeppiaar family, which runs several educational institutions across Tamil Nadu. He holds a B.Tech degree, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in Management Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. Over the years, he has served in various leadership roles within the Jeppiaar group, including Managing Director of Jeppiaar Institute of Technology and Managing Trustee of the Jeppiaar Remibai Educational Trust. He has also been associated with the technology and sports sectors through various institutions and organisations.
Wilson formally joined TVK in June 2025 along with several former bureaucrats and political leaders. His entry marked the Jeppiaar family’s return to electoral politics after decades. In the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, he contested from the Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency and defeated sitting DMK MLA J John Ebenezer by a margin of 49,668 votes after securing 97,800 votes. His rapid political rise has now positioned him as one of the key ministers in Vijay’s government.
