PIB Fact Check debunks viral misinformation targeting religious harmony and national security amid Indo-Pak tensions.
May 10, 2025: The Government of India on Saturday categorically denied social media claims that it had launched a drone strike on the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the PIB Fact Check Unit clarified,
“A video shared on social media is claiming that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankhana Sahib gurdwara. This claim is completely fake.”
Authorities warned that such misinformation is being deliberately spread to incite communal disharmony and should not be trusted or circulated.

The government also debunked two additional viral claims:
- That India’s power grid was disabled in a Pakistani cyberattack.
- That there had been a closure of the Mumbai-Delhi air route.
Both were labeled as “completely false.”
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) clarified that certain Air Traffic Service (ATS) segments within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) were temporarily closed due to operational reasons, not due to any cyber threat or hostile action.
These clarifications come as tensions remain high between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, India’s precision strike campaign against terror infrastructure across the border.
