Here are 10 essential documents every student must carry — both originals and multiple photocopies:
1. Class 10 and 12 Mark Sheets & Certificates
These are the most basic requirements. If the original documents are not yet issued, students can use digital versions downloaded from official board websites temporarily.
2. Transfer Certificate (TC)
Issued by your school, the TC proves you have officially left the institution. Most colleges require it before finalising admission.
3. Character Certificate
This certificate vouches for your behavior and conduct in school and is a mandatory document for most institutions.
4. Medical Fitness Certificate
Especially important for courses like Medicine, Paramedical, or the Merchant Navy, this certificate must be issued by a registered medical practitioner.
5. Entrance Exam Scorecard & Admit Card (if applicable)
If you appeared for entrance tests like CUET, JEE, NEET, etc., you’ll need both your admit card and scorecard for verification.
6. Income Certificate (if applicable)
Mandatory for availing scholarships or admission under income-based quotas. It should be issued by the local authority or SDM.
7. Identification Proof
Government-issued ID such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, or passport is needed for identity verification.
8. Caste Certificate (if applicable)
Required for those applying under SC, ST, OBC, or EWS quotas. The certificate must be valid and issued by the competent authority.
9. Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
Needed if you’re applying under a state quota. It confirms your residential status within a specific state.
10. Passport-Size Photographs
Carry 6–8 recent photographs. These will be used across various documents like application forms, student ID cards, and hostel records.
Final Tip:
Organize your documents in advance and carry extra copies. Admission deadlines are often tight, and missing paperwork can delay your entry or cost you your seat.
