April 26, 2025: Former India pacer Varun Aaron and ex-Australia captain Aaron Finch praised Ishan Kishan for his composed performance during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL on Friday.

Kishan, who has been struggling with form this season, scored 44 off 34 balls, marking his highest contribution since his unbeaten 106 against Rajasthan Royals in SRH’s opening game. Coming in early after Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal in the first over, Kishan showed patience and tactical maturity, eventually anchoring SRH’s successful 155-run chase.

“He had a string of really bad scores. I think he scored more runs in this innings than in his last seven innings,” Varun Aaron told ESPNcricinfo. “He would have been really disappointed not to take it home… he hit a straight one down the throat of the fielder.”

Finch applauded Kishan’s game awareness:

“His ability to read the situation and not overplay his hand early on and be overly aggressive [stood out]. On the back of an early wicket, he assessed it and played nicely.”

Kishan’s innings, along with Kamindu Mendis’ contribution and a four-wicket haul by Harshal Patel, secured SRH’s third win of the season. With this victory, SRH moved to eighth in the standings with six points, while CSK remains at the bottom with four points.
