May 11, 2025: Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has sharply criticized Pakistan for breaching a ceasefire agreement mere hours after it was announced on May 10, reigniting tensions between the two nations.

Taking to social media, Dhawan tweeted, “Ghatiya desh ne fir apna ghatiyapan poori duniya ke aage dikha diya. #Pakistan #Ceasefire,” expressing his frustration at the abrupt breakdown in diplomatic progress.

The tweet came shortly after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a late-night briefing, confirmed that Pakistan had violated the agreement reached earlier in the day during a call between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations. Misri urged Pakistan to take “appropriate steps” to ensure the situation is addressed with “seriousness.”

Dhawan, known for his usually diplomatic public stance, has been more vocal in recent weeks following India’s Operation Sindoor, which was launched in retaliation to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 tourists. Earlier in the week, he tweeted, “India takes a stand against terrorism. भारत माता की जय! 🇮🇳”

The ceasefire, intended to de-escalate the growing hostilities, fell apart within hours, with reports of Pakistani drone and missile attempts targeting Indian military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and several other northern regions. Indian forces reportedly intercepted and thwarted all such attempts.

Other sporting icons, including Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, have also expressed strong support for the Indian Armed Forces. Rohit, in a tweet on Friday, said, “With every passing moment, with every decision taken, I feel extremely proud of our Indian Army, Indian Air Force & Indian Navy.”
