In the aftermath of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) convincing 47-run victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, team captain Faf Du Plessis extolled the virtues of his bowling unit, particularly highlighting the contributions of Yash Dayal and Lockie Ferguson. The win marked RCB’s fifth consecutive victory, propelling them to fifth place in the standings as they continue their remarkable recovery in the second half of the IPL 2024 season.
“Brilliant, we put some good performances and really pleased. First half of the season, things did not quite come together and from that batting perspective and bowling perspective we have been able to put it together now,” Faf Du Plessis remarked during the post-match presentation. He also commended left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh for his effective use of match-ups, stating, “Sometimes people talk about match-ups and all, but as a left-hander with the ball spinning in, you hope that works out sometimes and he has done brilliantly for us.”
Du Plessis further noted the strategic diversity that has emerged in RCB’s approach, saying, “A lot of work has gone behind the scenes, and we are getting it right and I feel there is a lot more variety in our bowling now and Yash and Lockie have been exceptional in the last few games.”
The RCB skipper’s strategy of utilizing bold, aggressive plays from the outset has paid dividends, especially noted in their powerplay performance. “We want to be bold. Even today, we played swing up front and bounce upfront, we had 60-odd in the powerplay, guys are pushing,” Du Plessis added, indicating a confident outlook for the upcoming fixtures.
