Navdeep Singh Dedicates The Award To His Family And Coach After Being Honored With Arjuna Award

January 17, 2025: Paralympic gold medalist Navdeep Singh, who was felicitated with the prestigious Arjuna Award on Friday, dedicated the honor to his family and coach. Navdeep received the Arjuna Award for his exceptional performance in sports during the National Sports Awards ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, presented by President Droupadi Murmu.

Expressing his happiness, Navdeep told, “I am very happy to receive the Arjuna Award from the President. I feel good and I dedicate this award to my family, coach, and all those who supported me in this journey.” His heartfelt words reflect the immense gratitude he feels toward the people who played a crucial role in his success.

Navdeep’s achievement at the Paris Paralympics was a significant moment for Indian sports. He initially won a silver medal in the men’s para-athletics event, but it was later upgraded to gold after the disqualification of the original winner, Sadegh Beit Sayah of Iran. Navdeep’s personal-best throw of 47.32 meters secured his place at the top of the podium.

In addition to Navdeep, other distinguished athletes were honored at the event. Double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker, World Chess Champion Gukesh Dommaraju, Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh, and Para-athlete Praveen Kumar were awarded the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Also, hockey players Jarmanpreet Singh, Sanjay, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, and women’s hockey team captain Salima Tete received the Arjuna Award for their exceptional contributions to Indian sports.

The ceremony, held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, recognized the outstanding achievements of these athletes and celebrated their dedication to their respective sports.
