January 22, 2025: Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is gearing up for his Ranji Trophy clash with Saurashtra against Delhi, which is set to take place on Thursday.

Jadeja shared a picture of his Saurashtra team shirt on Instagram, with the caption: “#RanjiTrophy All Set!,” signaling his readiness for the upcoming match.

Jadeja last appeared in the Ranji Trophy in January 2023 for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu, where he showcased his all-round abilities. In that match, he took 8 wickets, including an impressive 7/48 in the second innings, while also contributing 40 runs with the bat. Despite Saurashtra’s loss by 59 runs, his performance highlighted his fitness ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

This Ranji appearance comes at a time when the BCCI has introduced a policy making it mandatory for international players to participate in domestic matches to remain eligible for national team selection and central contracts. The policy underscores the importance of staying connected to the domestic cricket ecosystem to promote talent development, maintain match fitness, and strengthen the structure of Indian cricket.

Jadeja’s form in 2024 was stellar. He ended the year with 562 runs in 20 Tests, including a century and three half-centuries, and 48 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 24.29, with best figures of 5/41. He also took three five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket match haul, showcasing his all-round prowess.

Jadeja’s participation in the Ranji Trophy will not only allow him to maintain his match fitness but also serve as an inspiration to emerging players, providing them with the opportunity to compete alongside one of India’s finest all-rounders.
