January 19, 2025: Pakistan secured a 127-run victory over the West Indies in the first Test at Multan on Sunday, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The standout performance came from Sajid Khan, whose incredible nine-wicket haul played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s triumph.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, but they were in early trouble, reduced to 46/4. However, a crucial partnership of 141 runs between Saud Shakeel (84) and Mohammad Rizwan (71) helped stabilize the innings. Despite their efforts, Pakistan was bowled out for 230 in 68.5 overs, with Jayden Seales (3/27) and Gudakesh Motie (1/48) being the primary wicket-takers.

In response, the West Indies struggled badly. Pakistan’s spinners, Sajid Khan (4/65), Noman Ali (5/39), and Abrar Ahmed (1/6), wreaked havoc, taking all 10 wickets. The West Indies were bowled out for just 137, with a late resistance from Jomel Warrican (31), Seales (22), and Motie (19). Pakistan took a 93-run lead.

In their second innings, Pakistan set a target of 251 for the West Indies after being bowled out for 157 in 52.5 overs, despite a half-century from captain Shan Masood (52). The damage was done by Jomel Warrican, who took an outstanding 7/32.

The West Indies began their chase, with Alick Athanaze scoring a solid 55 from 68 balls. However, Pakistan’s bowlers dominated once again. Sajid Khan (5/50) and Abrar Ahmed (4/27) dismantled the West Indies batting, and they were bowled out for just 123 in 36.3 overs.

Pakistan won the match by 127 runs, with Sajid Khan earning the Player of the Match award for his exceptional performance.
