April 29, 2025: After a six-year hiatus, the much-celebrated T20 Mumbai League is all set to make a grand return to the cricketing calendar, and it’s coming back bigger and bolder than ever. Scheduled to take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium from May 26 to June 8, the 2025 edition promises a cricketing spectacle that blends local passion with international pedigree.

In a blockbuster announcement that has ignited excitement among fans and pundits alike, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) unveiled a star-studded list of eight icon players — headlined by Indian stalwarts Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane. These seasoned campaigners will be joined by fellow India internationals Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, and Tushar Deshpande, all of whom have deep roots in Mumbai cricket.

“We are delighted to unveil eight icon players who have brought immense pride to Mumbai with their performances on both the domestic and international stage,” said MCA President Ajinkya Naik. “Their presence will not only inspire and mentor emerging talent but also elevate the stature of the league.”

Each of the eight franchises will be allowed to pick one icon player, a rule designed to ensure balance while adding firepower and experience to every squad. With the auction date to be announced soon, speculation is already swirling around which player will don which jersey.

The league features six returning teams — North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs — along with two new entrants: SoBo Mumbai Falcon and Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals.
