Fresh political tensions erupted in West Bengal after BJP MP Saumitra Khan claimed that dozens of Trinamool Congress leaders were prepared to defect to the BJP. Khan alleged that nearly 50 TMC MLAs and around 20 MPs were unhappy within the party and waiting for approval from the BJP’s central leadership before switching sides.
