Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday reviewed the drought-like situation in several parts of the state and said the government is closely monitoring conditions. Speaking during his visit to Kalaburagi, he said a legal framework exists for declaring drought-affected areas and addressing the challenges faced by affected communities.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has projected an 80% chance of an El Niño event developing between June and August, with the probability rising to over 90% that it could continue until at least November.
