Actor Aamir Khan has spoken publicly for the first time about education reformer and activist Sonam Wangchuk's ongoing hunger strike, expressing concern for his health while also putting to rest the long-standing belief that the 2009 blockbuster 3 Idiots was inspired by Wangchuk's life. The actor's remarks came during the closing ceremony of the London Indian Film Festival, where he attended a special screening of his Oscar-nominated film Lagaan.
