The Indian government has sought to calm concerns among exporters after the United States proposed fresh tariffs on imports from 60 economies, including India. The move follows investigations by the US Trade Representative (USTR) under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday expressed confidence that the first tranche of the India-US bilateral trade agreement will be signed soon. Speaking at a press conference, he said that most major issues have already been resolved and discussions are now in the final stages.
