In a casting move that has taken the industry by surprise, Aamir Khan is reportedly set to portray Ashneer Grover, the outspoken co-founder of BharatPe and former Shark Tank India judge. Following the success of his 2025 release Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir has reportedly greenlit the project, which is currently in the pre-production stage.
From ‘Doglapan’ to the Big Screen
The biopic is expected to be an adaptation of Grover’s best-selling 2022 autobiography, Doglapan: The Hard Truth about Life and Start-Ups. The book, which details Grover’s meteoric rise in the fintech world and the high-stakes controversies that followed, has been a hot property for filmmakers since its release.
“Aamir has read the script and loved it,” a source revealed. “He finds the story extremely relatable for today’s startup-centric audience and believes Ashneer is a figure that resonates deeply with the youth.”
The Creative Team
The project marks a significant collaboration between Aamir and a fresh wave of creative talent:
- Director & Producer: Rahul Mody, known for writing hit comedies like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. This will be Mody’s major directorial outing.
- Production Status: Pre-production is currently underway, with filming expected to begin later this year.
Aamir’s Busy 2026 Calendar
While fans wait for an official announcement on the biopic, Aamir is keeping busy behind the scenes as a producer. His next major project, Ek Din, is scheduled for a May 1, 2026 release. The film is a launchpad for his son, Junaid Khan, and features South Indian star Sai Pallavi in her Hindi debut.
Between the potential Grover biopic and long-rumored projects like a Dadasaheb Phalke film with Rajkumar Hirani, Aamir’s 2026 is shaping up to be a year of bold, character-driven narratives.
