Bizarre Family Feud: Man Demands ‘Half’ of Father’s Body in Cremation Dispute

Police intervene in Madhya Pradesh village after two brothers clash over last rites of their deceased father.

February 3, 2025: In a shocking incident from Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, a man demanded that his father’s body be split in half following a dispute with his younger brother over the cremation rites. The bizarre event unfolded on Sunday in Lidhorataal village, around 45 kilometers from Tikamgarh’s district headquarters.

According to police reports, Dhyani Singh Ghosh, 84, passed away at home after a prolonged illness. The deceased’s younger son, Deshraj, had been living with him and claimed it was his father’s wish that he perform the cremation. However, when the elder son, Kishan, arrived from outside the village, a heated argument broke out over who should carry out the last rites.

Clash Over Cremation

Police revealed that Kishan, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, demanded that the body be divided so both brothers could perform the cremation separately. Alarmed by the escalating situation, villagers alerted local authorities. Police arrived promptly and managed to pacify Kishan, allowing Deshraj to proceed with the cremation as per their father’s alleged wishes.

Arvind Singh Dangi, the officer in charge of Jatara police station, confirmed that the incident required police intervention to avoid further conflict.

Unrelated Tragedy in Madhya Pradesh

In another shocking incident from Madhya Pradesh, BJP MLA Satish Malviya’s elder brother, Mangal Malviya, allegedly shot his 30-year-old son, Arvind, over a dispute regarding money from the family’s grocery store. The incident occurred on Monday morning in Ujjain’s Makdon tehsil. According to Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargava, the argument escalated, and Mangal used a licensed firearm to fatally shoot his son. The accused is now in police custody.
