Indian opener KL Rahul added another milestone to his already impressive Indian Premier League career by becoming the first player in tournament history to score 1,000 or more runs for three different franchises.
The landmark was achieved during Delhi Capitals’ IPL clash against Kolkata Knight Riders, where Rahul played a quick cameo of 23 runs off just 14 deliveries. His innings included four boundaries and came at a strike rate of over 164.
With that knock, Rahul crossed the 1,000-run mark for Delhi Capitals, further underlining his consistency across franchises in the IPL. He has now scored 1,007 runs for DC in just 24 innings at an outstanding average of 50.35 and a blistering strike rate of 162.41. His record for the franchise includes two centuries and six half-centuries, with an unbeaten 152 being his highest score.
Rahul also set another franchise record in the process. He became the fastest batter to reach 1,000 IPL runs for Delhi Capitals, achieving the feat in only 24 innings. The previous record was jointly held by JP Duminy and Rishabh Pant, both of whom had taken 35 innings to get there.
The 2026 IPL season has been particularly productive for the stylish right-hander. Rahul is currently Delhi Capitals’ leading run-scorer and the third-highest overall run-getter in the tournament this season. In 11 innings, he has amassed 468 runs at an average of 46.80 and a strike rate of 180. His campaign includes one century and three fifties, with his unbeaten 152 standing out as one of the best innings of the season so far.
Before reaching the milestone with Delhi Capitals, Rahul had already crossed the 1,000-run mark for Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants.
He remains Punjab Kings’ highest-ever run-scorer, having accumulated 2,548 runs in 55 matches and innings for the franchise. During his stint with PBKS, Rahul averaged a remarkable 56.62 while scoring at a strike rate of 139.76. He also registered two centuries and 23 fifties for the Punjab-based side.
For Lucknow Super Giants, Rahul is currently the franchise’s second-highest run-scorer. He scored 1,410 runs in 38 matches and innings at an average of 41.47 and a strike rate of 130.67, including two centuries and 10 half-centuries.
Rahul has also represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru during different phases of his IPL career, although he did not reach the 1,000-run milestone with either team.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, he managed 308 runs in 20 matches, with a highest score of 46. During his time with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rahul scored 417 runs in 19 matches and registered four half-centuries in 14 innings.
Widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted batters in Indian cricket, Rahul’s latest achievement highlights not only his longevity in the IPL but also his ability to adapt and succeed across multiple teams and roles over the years.
