MONTEREY PARK (KABC) — Authorities are investigating a deadly incident involving a possible explosion at a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) training facility in Monterey Park early Friday morning.

The incident was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m. at what appears to be the LASD’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) compound. The facility is home to several specialized units, including the department’s bomb squad.

AIR7 aerial footage suggests that the explosion may have occurred near a law enforcement vehicle, although the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.

At least three people are confirmed dead, according to initial reports. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene, but it is not yet clear whether others were injured.
